What will happen if my Computer Printer Fabric™ comes in contact with water?

Computer Printer Fabric™ is a dry clean only fabric and is sensitive to water. When printing onto the fabric, you are using a water-based ink. This process is simply coloring the fabric with an ink, not a dye, which means the ink is not permanent and will wash away if it comes in contact with water. We do not have any type of solution, spray or fixative that can make the Computer Printer Fabric™ permanent. We suggest you handle your quilt with the utmost care and dry clean it only if it becomes soiled.

I'm having trouble removing the backing of my Computer Printer Fabric™,
are there any tips you can offer?

The backing of the Computer Printer Fabric™ is adhered to help stabilize the fabric so it will pass through your printer with ease. The backing should be scored to help in releasing it from the fabric. It is important to pull the backing off evenly from the center out or from the top to the bottom. You want to avoid pulling from corner to corner on a diagonal. This can distort the picture. If you are having trouble peeling from the top, center of the fabric, try starting with a corner and peeling just the top away so you can then begin pulling the fabric from the top to the bottom. To help release the fabric from the backing, you can try rubbing a corner in your fingers (fabric sides together). Be mindful that you are not rubbing any of the ink. This can also help to break the fabric away from the backing. Please keep in mind that you are working with a printable, 100% cotton fabric and it is possible to experience fraying.

How can I avoid paper jams when using Computer Printer Fabric™?

It is best to load one sheet of Computer Printer Fabric™ into your printer at a time. Once one sheet has passed through your printer, you may load the next sheet to be printed on.

If your printer is having trouble gripping the edge of the Computer Printer Fabric™, we recommend that you line the leading edge of the fabric with masking tape to help the printer grip the fabric and pull it through its printing process. It is also important that you watch the fabric as it comes out of your printer so it does not catch on any of the component parts of the printer and begin to jam. It may be helpful to watch the fabric as it exits the printer and help guide it out.

Humidity will have an effect on the Computer Printer Fabric™, as well as on your printer. If your environment is too humid, the fabric can curl and will not run through the printer smoothly. Printers are also more likely to jam in humidity. It is best to reduce the amount of humidity around both.
